British Fantasy Society Awards

Just learned that my anthology New Writings in the Fantastic (2007, Pendragon Press) has been longlisted for a BFSA (Best Anthology category; http://www.britishfantasysociety.org/news/?p=300#more-300).

I'm obviously mighty gruntled -- but even more so that two of the stories therein have been nominated in the appropriate category.

Step forward to receive a big hand:

Yes. But considering INFERNO wasn't published in the UK and is not in ANY UK bookstores (someone mentioned it's not even at FORBIDDEN PLANET) I don't think you've got any competition from it. But how many other British anthos are you competing against?

A Hell of a Woman: An Anthology of Female Noir , [Ed] Megan Abbott, Busted Flush Press

Actually, I quite fancy this one, and hope to pick up a copy at Fantasycon. I'd assumed, though, that Busted Flush was a US house.

It'll be interesting to see if this is so. It's been a few years since Steve's pulled off a BFSA with one of these.

Haven't heard of it at all, which is why I assume it's Brit...brb after I google.
It is American--out of Houston. Sorry I'd never heard of the book or I would have covered it for YBFH last year. Came out in December...It's gotten very little play over here.

Re: Best New Horror--perhaps not. It'll be interesting to see what wins.

WOWIE! They're reprinting Mitchell Smith's terrific prison novel STONE CITY. I've been raving about it since it was published in 1990.
