I've been loving this stuff

If you're not such a milquetoste as to be frightened by the prospect of a cross between Bach and Afro-Cuban jazz, here's something you might want to listen to: me, I've been listening to the three tracks on offer all day long, and am planning to buy the CD next time I'm near a record store.

Date: 2009-05-28 02:00 am (UTC)Oh, that *does* sound nice, even though it's the first I knew that Bach wrote *The Four Seasons*.

Date: 2009-05-28 02:14 am (UTC)I recommended it today to the publisher of my DiscardedCorrupted/Bogus Science and he said: ". . . sounds like torture to me."
So you'll understand why I was beginning to wonder about other folks' milquestostery!

Well, play it again! And do try that piece Lon recommends just below where I'm posting this reply.

Me too!
I discovered a week or two ago that NPR will send you a daily e-mail about their music programs. Before that I'd obviously been checking their site from time to time, having discovered a few years ago it was True Fab, but far too often forgetting. Now . . . wahey!
I wish, though, they'd post some of their classical concerts in full. Most often they put online just the third movement of a symphony, or whatever. *sigh* Still, can't be long now before the Beeb's posting all of its Prom Concerts for 2009.

oh, and
Date: 2009-05-28 02:22 am (UTC)I remember when they posted the Punch Bros thing. Am I right in remembering that someone else had it up as a full stream?

I do recall that, but it wasn't what I was thinking of. Oh, well . . .
I sent the URL for the Tiempo Libre stuff off to The Spammers (e-mail chat group) last night, and also the one you gave me for Punch. One of the bunch e-mailed late last night to say he'd loved Tiempo Libre so much he'd promptly bought the CD online, then loved Punch Bros so much he'd bought it, too, online. He was asking me, for the sake of his bank balance, to stop sending musical recommendations . . .
It shows the value of streaming stuff online, doesn't it?

I don't care for the Buena Vista Club manufactured faux Cubania fairy tale either. But many others bought it.
Love, c.

Date: 2009-05-29 02:05 am (UTC)I am not by any stretch a milquetoast and neither is Ben, but we're both bothered by the 'straight' sections in the middle of the awesome groove.
But the awesome groove is definitely awesome.

I'm not sure which bits you refer to (and have replayed the tracks just now to try to work it out). Are you thinking of the places where the burden is borne by the pianist?
If so, I'm still slightly mystified, because it seems to me he's screwed around merrily with the original's notes and especially tempo.
