I am not supposed to say that, am I? As editor of the volume in question, I'm supposed to humbly congratulate all the wunnerful contributors whose stories I (let me repeat that: I) chose for the final selection.
Okay, so consider them congratulated. Yawn.[*]
This time the bouquets are from The Hub, the most widely read weekly electronic genre fiction mag in Europe (inc. UK). In its issue #39, viewable at www.hub-mag.co.uk, Editor-in-Chief Lee Harris picks what he calls, in jest, The Hub Awards -- in fact, as he points out, they're merely his personal selections for Best of '07.
And, in the Best Collection (Multi-Author) (i.e., Best Anthology) category, what do we find?
. . . the winner is Pendragon's superb New Writings in the Fantastic edited by John Grant -- over 40 stories, and not a filler to be seen.
No need to throw flowers, folks -- cash will do.
[Footnote: * I am teasing, of course. The kudos is actually all theirs -- I was just the lucky guy they chose to send their stories to. Should any of the 40+ talented contributors read this log, my thanks and congratulations and I probably owe you a beer sometime. Should any of the 1400 or so other people who sent me stories for the book want to buy me a beer, that'd be okay, too.]
