Ack! Do you find, as a Brit living in the US, that many americans view of terrorism is very narrow? If only they had lived for a few years across the pond when the IRA were bombing London etc. etc.
BTW, I am burning and listening to Sibelius 2nd symphony right now! I performed it in concert many years ago :( 1st clarinet. I love it but it does get a little repetitive (and tiring to play in the last movement!

Couldn't agree with you more. If they had, they'd hve laughed the whole "War on Terror" idea down on sight.

K mentioned it was one of your prezzies, which reminded me I hadn't played it for a while.
Just done a bit more digging, and discovered I recorded his symphonies 5 and 7 off the proms last year or the year before. There may be some Sibelius goin' on around here the next day or two. (On the other hand, I'm very much into a couple of CDs by Axelle Red and Anggun's first right now, so the other Sibelius symphs may have to join the queue . . .)
Yes, you wonder where the broadcasting media in this country dig up these complete numbnutses, don't you?
I mean, you can go into any bar and find some asshole who'll spew hate on demand about subjects of which he's completely ignorant and against people of whom he knows nothing . . . and, once you've found this jerk, the trick is to sit as far away as possible from him so you can't hear his venom, pig ignorance and stupidity, because if you have to listen to it you'll need a long bath afterwards just to get it off your skin.
Yet in the US they rope him into a studio and pay him a big fat salary and pretend he's a "conservative commentator" rather than an ignorant bigot.
So, if you bomb a planned parenthood clinic, that's not exactly terrorism, because a clinic bomber is not seeking to "destroy these united states." For fuck's sake.
How can anything intelligently pertinent occur to you when you're standing on stiletto heels several hours a day while addressing adoring blood hungry crowds?

Lets the IRA and ETA off the hook, then. And a whole bunch of others.
