DNC provides evidence for gods

You may recall that some whackaloon's going to pray for rain in Denver to ruin Obama's acceptance speech. It didn't work — no surprise there — but there was an incident, a small selective event. A defective sprinkler went off, flooding a skybox booth.

It belonged to Fox News.

Ha! But why the "adult content" warning from LJ?

From: [identity profile] realthog.livejournal.com

I have my LJ set at "adult content" in case any eedjit complains about the occasional offhand cuss by myself or any of the commenters; also in case some fundie lunatic chooses to make a fuss about the rationalist nature of quite a few of the posts.

That's funny!

What a whackadoodle world.

It surely is. Talking of whackadoodles, how did your MRA go?

"Talking of whackadoodles, how did your MRA go?"

I beg your pardon? Hm.

It went. The technician stuck the IV through the artery in my left arm, hit what I think was a tendon, sent me through the ceiling screaming. Then she moved to my right arm, found another artery and managed the IV insertion without further trauma and drama. I'm sure you must know the MRA routine, P, since you've been through so much with your arteries.

I felt foggy in the head when it was over. But I've been foogy upstairs a great deal lately -- speaking of whackadoodle. Hm.

"hit what I think was a tendon, sent me through the ceiling screaming"

Oh-oh-oh, sympathies! That must have been horrible when the tech got the IV needle wrong.

In my own MRA, the tech managed to slip the IV needle in so smoothly I had to ask him if he'd done it -- first and last time that's happened!

The worst IV insertion I ever experienced was one in the back of my hand. It was more painful than yesterday's misdirection (which was quite painful!). Too bad there aren't more techs like the one you just described!

"The worst IV insertion I ever experienced was one in the back of my hand."

I know. I've had more than one of those as techs desperately try to find my veins . . .

Whatever powers may rule this multiplex universe, I worship their sense of humor. ;)

We should invent a new religion centered on that concept.

I dunno. Too many goddam religions already. Er, let me rephrase that . . .

But this is the One True Religion, it matches reality exactly!

Too much to hope that Kay Burley was in the booth at the time, I suppose...

From: [identity profile] realthog.livejournal.com

Kay Burley?

You don't mean your pal Tucker Carlson, do you?

If he was there too, there is a God.

I think it was empty at the time, alas. Who's Kay Burley?

Kay Burley is Sky's doyenne over here. A driven and rather spooky lady.

"A driven and rather spooky lady."

A consequence of being named (near as dammit) after the famous rectory?

I can't discount the possibility.

Oh lord, no, don't do that...
Actually, the first time I heard of Harry Price was about twenty years ago when I wrote an article about Gef the talking mongoose. I wound up being more interested in Price than in Gef, but I'd entirely forgotten about him over the intervening years. Isn't that terrible?

Yes.

Then you must have been mystified by my Borley/Burley Rectory joke?

*sigh* The young are so ignorant.

Date: 2008-08-29 11:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hutch0.livejournal.com
Nope, I did look at some of the Borley Rectory stuff in the course of checking out Gef - mostly very crumbly cuttings from the Telegraph and the Times, if I remember correctly, in the PA Library. But it was a long time ago, and I'd forgotten all about it until you mentioned Borley Rectory.
