Spotted as an exhibit in
the new British Library exhibition about science fiction: Earthdoom, by David Langford and John Grant.

The exhibition's all, like, me an' Dave an' that H.G. Wossname . . .

Incidentally, the book is (over)due to be re-released by
Dark Quest Books. I'd say run and place your orders, but I see it's not yet listed on the website.

I know, I know: la gloire! I'm not sure whether to giggle or be insufferable . . . or both.

That's terrific!

I mentioned this in comments on Dave's FB post: Years ago, I loaned my copy to my dad, who was really impressed that I actually knew 'the pert-nippled Avedon Patella'. He was recovering from surgery at the time, and I'll never forget seeing him hooked up to many, many tubes and machines that go BEEP! etc., giggling as he read.

That's a great tale, although I'm astonished you actually met Avedon. Myself, I signed on to every Cornish Nationalist organization I could find in the hopes of catching so much as a wayward glance of her wild, unfettered eyes, but no such luck . . .

Would your dad be Wellinghall?

Congratulations! Lots of people make exhibitions of themselves but very few books make it into exhibitions.
Aren't you proud of me for not following up on that straight line? :-)

Aren't you proud of me...?

In general, yes: who couldn't be? But this time . . .?

We've just been watching And the Devil Makes Three (1952) and were wondering if you and G knew it.

Correction: The Devil Makes Three, not And the Devil Makes Three.

Fantastic!
