Thanks to those wunnerful folk at AtheistCartoons.com, I may have discovered the wisest and most poignant and perceptive graphic of 2009 (artist seemingly [they need to work out their ascriptions] Ulysses Ronquillo):

Next, I imagine, there'll be some whingeing to the effect that atheism is really just a religion itself. To be as mild as I can possibly be, there are logical problems with such an argument: it's cozy, but that's about it.

Date: 2009-11-08 01:15 am (UTC)'Tis too. I was expecting the site to be a bit po-faced, but I spent far too much of this morning giggling there.

Date: 2009-11-08 05:24 am (UTC)What I'm waiting for is when the fundies hit the Bogus Science Amazon page: because of my total idiocy, I wasn't quite expecting it when they hit Corrupted Science and especially Leaving Fortusa, and so the various political/ideological hatchet-jobs hurt. The one I really didn't expect was the LoyalBushiePW number.

Philcon. Spammers. This is like trying to herd cats. It looks as if the thrash will be in central Philly, which I assume is good for you. Watch this space.

The pub at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Philly is called the "Elephant and Castle" I note with interest. It even has an old red phone booth.

Date: 2009-11-08 05:12 am (UTC)I thought about you and TB while posting this. As TB will doubtless have told you, in England (not so sure about the rest of the UK, even yet) the atheists and the CoE -- and even many RCs -- get on just fine: you know, the morality's the important part and the supernatural part can be left up to personal interpretation. The Jesuit priest who married me to my first wife told me he'd much rather I were an atheist than a moron.
You yourself, by the way, are regarded by all of us godless atheists as a very special and wonderful person. Just thought you ought to know that.
