Is it the Villain Rather than the Hero who Makes a Thriller Thrill?

 

Where would Sherlock Holmes have been without Moriarty? Would we read about Harry Potter if there were no Lord Voldemort? Why is Hannibal Lecter so much better known than Agent Clarice Starling?

 

While we may root for the heroes, isn't it the villains who really grab us?
