Just now I was attempting to type the word "fratboy".

And instead I typed "fratbot".

I thought, There's a story in that. But I also thought, It's a story I'm never going to write.

So, if you'd like it, it's yours. On the other hand, if you sell the movie rights to Steven Spielberg for a seven-figure advance, I'd like me a cut, okay?

Just wrote a 500-word flash piece entitled "Fratbot," just to see if I could do it. Thanks for the kick in the pants. I'll let you know if Spielberg comes aknockin'. ;-)

I'm trying to edit a god-awful piece on "carnival and the carnivalesque" and would like to send a fratbot to celebrate on the grave of Mikhail Bakhtin.

Scraping the fratbot of the barrel, is it?

Well, let's see:

What carnival enables is space to play out and pose issues of incompleteness, expectations, fantasies, transitions, uncertainties, contingency, the (dis) orders of the day, or those of historical moments generally, in relation to specific sociocultural practices. As the symposium participants saw it, the carnivalesque performances destabilized the site specific, even context specific notion of carnival, and drew attention to ways of imagining alternative realities, against or along those given. Moreover, we recognized that Carnival’s ambivalence as a metaphor lends itself to other manifestations of ambivalent power that transpires in various imaginations of both participants and the audience , and so there were distinct attempts made by some of the contributors to factor into their analyses such concerns.

Goddamnit. I saw this post last night and thought, huh, fratbots, that's funny but were I to write something, it probably wouldn't involve AIs. Then the Story That Is Eating My Brain (dear Story: I AM NOT A FRICKIN' WRITER! GO PLAGUE SOMEONE WITH SKILLZ!) ate the fratbot and . . . yeah. Now we have psis and AIs and government conspiracies, oh my.

*sigh*

(also poetry) (only not)
