Books like Corrupted Science attract a lot of (a) angry holy rollers and (b) intelligent kids. I don't want to draw down additional flak on myself by giving the former an excuse to huff'n'puff 'til they've blown up a furor with LJ's owners, and neither do I wish to run the risk of having parents of the latter complain to LJ about the occasional profanity I (or commenters) might use. So it's just easier to have the warning.
