sold: I'm Running

This is kind of oldish news, but I forgot to post anything about it until reminded by the recent sale of two book projects, one a reissue and one a newie (more on these later). David Fitzpatrick has been kind enough to buy for his anthology Salacious Tales my rude story "I'm Running".

A while back I decided it might be fun to see if I could do anything interesting with the fantasy/erotica intermingle. What resulted were four stories: one that I hated (it sold instantly), one that I thought was okay (it sold instantly for big bux), one that I loved and still love beyond belief ("Has Anyone Here Seen Kristy?", which sold instantly -- to the late lamented The Third Alternative, there was singing and dancing all over the house that day), and one that I loved quite a lot because it was funky and fun and a shaggy dog fantasy story that made me grin even at the same time that it was serving up a homage to the film noir genre wot I love. Then Cecelia Tan, doyenne of erotic fantasy, informed me that this wasn't a fun story at all, but

Her advice was good. Even so, this story that I loved, "I'm Running", didn't sell at all until David Fitzpatrick saw it; his acceptance was more or less immediate, which persuaded me that he was a wise and wonderful anthologist, had I not suspected as much already -- he was a fellow-contributor to Des Lewis's Cone Zero. I'm not sure when the antho will appear, but I'm proud to be a part of it.
