sold: "Lives" (reprint)

The story of mine, "Lives", that appeared in Ellen Datlow's 2007 anthology Inferno has been bought for "reprint" by the UK electronic f/sf magazine The Hub.

I am, obviously, very pleased. The contract doesn't state when the story will be making its Hub appearance, but if you subscribe (it's free) to the ezine (follow above link) you'll find out about at the same time as I do . . . and you'll also have a weekly ration of other fiction popping cheerily into your inbox!

What're you off to Orlando for?

It's closed to submissions again!

It is? Well, dang! I'd just assembled a folder of 732 stories to send you . . .

'Prolific' would seem an inadequate word to describe you.

Oh that this were still the case. I've slowed down a lot in recent years.

Define 'a lot', if you don't mind.

Like, I doubt if I could write a novel in two or three weeks any more.

Now, that sounds like, ahem, Stephen King.

A conference (for my day job). I'm attending as a vendor, not as an attendee - I get to smile at people and offer them chocolate and demo our software. Or rather pass them along to my boss, who'll be mainly doing the demoing and answering the technical questions.

Well, dang! I'd just assembled a folder of 732 stories to send you . . .

Shucks! You'll just have to hang onto them until we reopen. We've actually got around 30 or so stories queued up to publish, with another 60-ish still to read through in the slushpile. Which is why we're shut again. We really do appreciate getting so many great stories in so quickly, but we have a limited budget so we can't afford to publish more than one story a week. Now, if people would only donate, we'd be able to buy more stories and pay our hard-working authors more money... /shameless plug

"I get to smile at people and offer them chocolate"

I imagine giving the chocolate away is going to be hell!
