Congratulations on your nomination!

I do wonder that of all those nominations that only one female appears to be respresented. Ah well.

[identity profile] realthog.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)

"I do wonder that of all those nominations that only one female appears to be respresented."

How very true. I'm sure it can't be a matter of deliberate policy, since the BFS membership seems to be pretty evenly split between the genders and, insofar as I know any of their names, the society's officers seem to be if anything tilted towards a female majority.

Maybe it's just coincidence that this year the shortlist's so predominantly male. If I get the urge I'll see if I can dig out the shortlists for previous years.

And thanks for the congrats, even if I am male!

Why's one of these titles in black...? Oh, right...
Many congratulations. Not too shabby for a little orphan anthology, eh? I hope He Who Must Not Be Mentioned is paying attention.

[identity profile] realthog.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)

"Many congratulations."

Thanks, Dad!

"I hope He Who Must Not Be Mentioned is paying attention."

I've had a couple of suggestions I should do a blog post about the origins of the book. Still thinking about this.

The annoying part of these ruminations is that I *did* a long and impassioned blog post for the old The Third Alternative site, 'way back when the Prime/Strange Pleasures shit hit the fan, and of course I have no record of it now.

[identity profile] realthog.livejournal.com 2008-08-08 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)

Fan-freekin'-tastic!!! Best of luck to you, chumly. Hope you return with another piece of well-deserved hardware.

[identity profile] realthog.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)

You hadn't heard 'til now? I thought everyone had been thoroughly bored by my constant repetition of this datum . . .

[identity profile] randeroo.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I've kind of been away from my emails lately...

"I've kind of been away from my emails lately..."

Is all well?

Adjusting to having Keith's pooch with us has been taxing. I'm too old for this stuff!

[identity profile] realthog.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)

Don't you enjoy taking him for long, heart-friendly walks?

[identity profile] randeroo.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
If that were the all of it, he would be a terrific little visitor. However, there's the cleaning up of the bathroom whenever we're forced to leave him at home (which is virtually some part of every day), his deviated septum which causes him to snore at night, his shaking and panting in the middle of the night during thunderstorms, his insistence on protecting us from Harry...
It's like he and Harry were each meant to be "only children".
