dimwits #2

Oh, but here's a bit of dimwittedness that's significantly less amusing:

President Bush Eliminates Funding for Reading Is Fundamental's Historic Book Distribution Program Serving 4.6 Million Children

Statement from Carol H. Rasco, president and CEO of Reading Is
Fundamental

WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a
statement from Carol H. Rasco, president and CEO of Reading Is Fundamental:

"President Bush's proposed budget calling for the elimination of Reading Is Fundamental's (RIF) Inexpensive Book Distribution program would be devastating to the 4.6 million children and their families who receive free books and reading encouragement from RIF programs at nearly 20,000 locations throughout the U.S.

"Unless Congress reinstates $25.5 million in funding for this program, RIF would not be able to distribute 16 million books annually to the nation's youngest and most at-risk children. RIF programs in schools, childcare centers, migrant program, military bases, and other locations serve children from low-income families, children with disabilities, foster and homeless children, and children without access to libraries. . . .

Unsurprising.

WHAT?????????????

Billions / trillions wasted in Iraq, and he's cutting $25 for books?

Well, I guess it's one more step in his plan to keep the masses uneducated and easy to control.

This is extremely sad to see. He'll give billions of dollars to fund a war, yet he cuts reading to those who need and may desire it most.

And let me not tell you just how many kids' books get recycled DAILY in this country. If there were only better mechanisms to get them into the hands of little people...

We at least drop our bookshop rejects off at schools in the hopes that SOMEONE will get something to read.

I'm somehow reminded that as 9/11 unfolded, yer man was...reading to a class of little ones.

Man's an idiot. But we knew that already.

Note one of the tags to this entry . . .

Ach, I never look at the tags.
And even if I did I'd have assumed it was something to do with deep-sea diving...

"Man's an idiot."

The tragedy is that he's not the only one -- that he's not even amongst few. Wait until his budget's debated in the Senate and the House and indeed the US media, and you'll see all these vicious no-brains cheering him on because he's got his priorities right: burn countless kids alive in Iraq, good; deprive the poorest kids at home of the essentials of education, good. It is so depressing to see every conceivable human morality turned on its head by these bastards.
