The obnoxious Tony Bliar has been speaking again, according to the Beeb:

Radical Islam is world's greatest threat - Tony Blair

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has described radical Islam as the greatest threat facing the world today.

It's alarming that someone who for so long was in charge of a moderately powerful country still doesn't know that the "greatest threat facing the world today" is in fact climate change.

Or perhaps he's erecting a smokescreen in the hopes that we'll not remember how at huge expense to the British taxpayer he abetted, against all international law, the invasion of a country that had no connection to "radical Islam" but did have inhabitants of appropriately dusky hue, while at the same time, despite much froth, he did absolutely fuck-all to help the world cope with man-exacerbated global warming.

What an embarrassment he is to us all. And how much more than that he's going to be to the unfortunates who're trying to stay alive on a hostile planet in a few decades' time.

It's terrible. Labour are no longer in power and Everyone Is Ignoring Him! He has to produce soundbites! If we don't all listen, he may cease existing.
I recommend the insertion of fingers into ears and the loud singing of 'La, la, la' until he gives up.

Of course, this could be seen as a waste of good eggs.

Hm.

Let's hope they used bad ones.

Bad eggs on a bad egg? Seems reasonable to me.

The book sounds like the most incredible piece of sustained self-delusion I have ever heard of.

I'm currently swithering over buying it so I can pour well-informed scorn on it, in acid detail, or not buying it so's not to give him any money.

John Crace's digested read is pretty good, though.

Well, you could always either steal it or get it out of the library. No, wait a mo: don't steal it. He'd get the royalty anyway. Your best bet is to steal it from the library: that way you deprive him of both the royalty and the PLR.

Thanks for the link to the Crace summary, which more or less accords with what I've read elsewhere. You might also want to check out this: http://motherjones.com/politics/2010/09/tony-blair-memoir-iraq-george-bush

Oh, and I trust you're all over THIS: http://jongibbs.livejournal.com/119516.html . I'm a bit startled by the results so far . . .
