quote of the day
Well, Quote of the Other Day, actually, but . . .
Stephen Fry, tweeting on Monday about a vilely homophobic piece in the UK tabloid the Daily Mail by columnist Jan Moir concerning the death of gay pop star Stephen Gately, seems to sum up rather a lot of home truths in a few short words:
I gather a repulsive nobody writing in a paper no one of any decency would be seen dead with has written something loathsome and inhumane.

You might want to cast an eye over Ron Reagan's piece here: http://airamerica.com/theronreaganshow/blog/10-22-2009/dick-cheney-nose-blowing-incompetent/
Had I not already posted Fry's quote, I'd have been tempted to post one from Reagan: "This is the man who, in a despicable act of moral turpitude and abject cowardice, then overturned more than two centuries of proud anti-torture policy in America, emboldening our enemies and humiliating our nation before the civilized world."
It's taking a long time for too many of us to realize this isn't just an opinion but a matter of fact: Bush/Cheney dragged the US into the gutter so far as world opinion was concerned, and it may take even the election of a sane, non-sociopathic administration a long while to restore the US's reputation as a bastion of decency.

What did Satan ever do to you to justify that sort of comparison?
Precisely. Satan has never existed whereas Cheney unfortunately does.

You bet. What's amazing is that toads like Moir don't seem to realize the world has moved on and left them behind.
