Thog's Science Masterclass #20: Revisionist Anatomy Module
You people are out calling us Nazis, saying we're running around with Swastikas. We get tarred and feathered as Nazis because we don't just bend over, grab the ankles and let you guys ram whatever down our throats you want.
----Rush Limbaugh, August 11ish

Rush got the memo that he's obsessed with butts and tried to prove that he's actually obsessed with throats?
Yeah, I got nothing.

As we know.
The stormtroopers of the American Right do, though, seem to be taking it to Goebbelsesque extremes at the moment -- and perhaps even beyond. Limbaugh is currently pushing the mantra that Obama, "like Hitler", is a dictator. This seems an astonishingly hard argument to make, since Obama was recently elected by a clear majority in a seemingly open and fair election, and has issued no diktat that I have been able to identify. Yet still Limbaugh, the Lord Haw-Haw of our age, lumbers on.

He was the one who wrote Portrait of the Propagandist as a Young Man, wasn't he?

"In his Brixton bedsit."
Or Brixton bedheadstand, as Limbaugh might conceive it.

The Limbaugh quote came in the context of his response to the "deranged" Nancy Pelosi saying the healthcare brownshirts were Nazis.
In fact, as Limbaugh knows, Pelosi said no such thing.
She said some of the brownshirts were turning up to the town hall meetings with swastikas and the like.
And she was right.

I don't know how these people sleep at night.

Ditto. It must feel very strange to base one's entire ethos on lying -- such that you measure your satisfaction with yourself according not to any ordinary sort of achievement but in terms of how many people you've managed to deceive today and how egregious the lies were.

I am going to read that quote to as many people as possible, because it made me laugh. :)

I imagined it would . . .
